Where do your blog readers come from?

Just a quick post today. I'm off to spend an unknown number of hours at the Department of Motor Vehicles, since my sister-in-law lost her license.

I had to chuckle today, though. As a writer, storyworld is a huge part of a novel. And three of my blog readers came from towns famous for the stories that took place there. Can you guess which towns they are? The answers are at the bottom of the post.

The towns are Bethlehem, Bremen (Germany), and Nottingham, England. Did you guess all three? If you have a blog or website, what are some of the unusual locations of your readers? I've discovered readers in Iceland, and tiny islands I've never heard of before.

  1. I only guessed Bethlehem, so I didn't score so good--but congratulations on your wide range of blog readers. That's so neat!

  3. It's so fascinating to take a look at the Sitemeter stats. The majority of my readers aren't regular, they mostly come from Google searches. It's interesting to see what they looked up!

  4. I love in the town where Thomas Wolfe is from...that's sort of cool, but what's even cooler is a couple months ago, I ate at a bar in New York where O.Henry sat and penned "The Gift of the Magi" (love that story).

Just a heads-up: I totally plan on steal this idea for a post!

  5. That's so cool, Amy! I'm from NYC, and next time we visit, my daughter and I have a whole list of literary spots we want to visit. I'll have to add that to the list.

Looking forward to seeing your post!

  6. I was too busy thinking about all the stories at the DMV to focus on the pictures. I look at statistics every once in a while. I probably should pay more attention to it all, but I fear looking at the numbers will register how I don't "qualify" as a real platform. I'll just keep plugging along and writing.

  8. For me, it's not so much the numbers, as a fascination with how in the world someone ends up here. Google Analytics is good for big picture stuff, but I peek at Sitemeter more frequently to see which pages people end up on, and what links they found helpful. That way I can plan future posts better.
