Another Year of Writing

I'm off to the airport at a ridiculous hour this morning. It's time to say goodbye again, as my daughter leaves for her sophomore year of college--far away from Colorado. It makes me feel a little better that she loves it and has wonderful friends and professors. But she also gets to study Creative Writing.

So I'll deal with missing her.

I'll be back tomorrow with a regular post, once I've dried my eyes.

(Katie just turned 20. This is a photo of her with some of her gifts: Anne Lamott's Bird by Bird, and a blank journal. It sure is easy to buy gifts for a writer!)

  1. Our oldest is a junior in high school this year. I can't imagine sending her, let alone my youngest, off to college. I'll cry, because I'm a crier :) Sounds like you sent her off in style (i.e., with books!).

  2. I'm actually at the airport now, waiting for her flight to take off. It's always hard!

  4. That's so cool that your daughter's a writer as well!! I can't imagine what it's like to see your kid grow up into a person of their own!

  5. Thank you Stacy and Trisha! I just Skyped Katie in her new dorm. She finished reading Bird by Bird on the plane. Sounds like a great book.

  6. I hope Katie has a wonderful year at school. She looks like you, Mom. :-)

You mentioning Bird by Bird reminds me that I have that book sitting on my bookshelf, by the way, waiting to be read. I should get to it!

    Be well.

  7. Thanks, Janette. I read the introduction, and it really made me laugh. She definitely has a way with words, and amazing insights.
